Bible Verses for College Students

College life is a long hard struggle that comes with discouragement and trials. In the Bible, God speaks on many situations college students encounter.

Self-Esteem

Psalm 139:14 "I praise you for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well" NIV. It's so amazing to find your identity in who Christ says we are, He says we are wonderfully made, good, perfect, beloved, children of Him and every day we should rest in knowing who God says we are, not what the world says we are.

Hardships

Zephaniah 3:17 "For the Lord your God is living among you. He is a mighty savior. He will take delight in you with gladness. With his love, he will calm all your fears. He will rejoice over you with joyful songs" NLT.  This verse puts me in awe of God. He is not only living among me, but he takes delight in me, calms my fears, and rejoices over me? Wow. The God of the universe in all his holiness. He's here for you too and will guide you through your situations.

Romans 12:2 "Don't copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God's will for you, which is a good and pleasing and perfect will" NLT. Trust me, if I had decided to go to parties every Saturday night in college, I would not have made it to church the next day or get to volunteer with elementary students each week. God had a plan when he steered me from parties to His will to make me a Sunday School teacher. I just had to not copy the customs of the world.

Hard Work

Colossians 3:23 "Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men" NIV. This Bible verse was used when I was a teenager dreading to do chores for my mother. Ever since then I struggled with what this concept means. Working unto the Lord is working for the glory of Him and not for mankind. This does not mean you do not dread assignments from your boss and teachers, but rather that you do so with a grateful heart because our goal is to glorify God in all we do.

Anxiety

Philippians 4:6 "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God" NIV.  This is one of the most known Bible verses people cling to in times of worry. I have definitely been one of those people and when I get anxious, I'll be honest, my first instinct is not to pray. I don't take advantage of my God being a 24/7 God to talk to. This verse reminds me in every situation I can cry out to Him.

The Bible covers so many topics young adults face and I can't wait to dive deeper into some of these topics with you!

Thank You Morgan. These are very good and helpful verses to do what Romans 12:2 says - “be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” Thank you for your encouragement to be in Gods word, to meditate on it and be transform by it by memorizing it. I look forward to more posts in the future.
