Christian Apps for Your Phone

With a lot of time on my hands at home now, I've been getting way too much screen time. I decided to download some Christian apps I've never heard about to test them out and see if they helped my devotion time and encourage me throughout the day.

Echo App
The first app I downloaded is called Echo
Purpose: Prayer journal
Features: Pray with small groups, follow your church's feed or join any prayer chain, share prayers
Available on: App store and Google Play
Price: Free
Review: I usually get so distracted when praying and it's hard to stay focused. After I added all my prayers to my journal, all I had to do was click "pray now". All of my requests came up and I got to pray for everything I had listed. I also got to set reminders and get push notifications for when I should take a minute to pause and pray.
Overall: 5/5

She Reads Truth App
The second app I downloaded is called She Reads Truth
Purpose: Devotions and wallpapers
Features: Full Bible with ability to highlight and take notes, plans, wallpaper downloads
Available on: App store and Google Play
Price: Free, except pay for plans
Review: This app's goal is to encourage women to stay in the Word everyday. I found however that besides reading the Bible, plans and devotions cost $3 and up. An aspect of the app I did enjoy was the creative wallpaper that fit my phone screen.
Overall: 3/5

Through the Word App

The third I app I downloaded is called Through the Word
Purpose: Bible study with audio to walk through each chapter
Features: Plans on every book of the Bible, subscribe to books, hear sermons on each chapters by pastors such as Sandy Adams, Kris Langham, Peyton Jones, and more
Available on: App store and Google Play
Price: Free
Review: This app is super helpful when reading through confusing and difficult to understand parts of the Bible. I was reading through the book of Job which is a very poetic and deep book. I listened to Sandy Adams preaching on a chapter and found it very helpful.
Overall: 5/5

YouVersion Bible App
One app I've used since last year is called Bible by YouVersion
Purpose: To access the Bible and read plans
Features: Over hundreds of free plans (devotionals) available, add friends to share verses, highlighting and image creating for verses
Available on: App store and Google Play
Price: Free
Review: I love this app! I use it at church and small group when I forget my physical Bible. It allows me to "friend" others I know and we can do plans together. It also keeps a streak and sends notifications so it holds you responsible for reading daily.
Overall: 5/5 stars

These are just a few of various encouraging Christian apps. These are also just my experiences and opinions on these apps, but everyone's experience is different. Let me know in the comments if you have tried any of these apps out and if you have any others you would recommend!

I love the YouVersion Bible app. I create verses with their photos and my personal photos and I’m able to send them to my friends and family to encourage them during these crazy Coronavirus isolation days. And I just found out that if I don’t know the address of a verse I can search the words that I remember such as “trust in the Lord with all your heart...” and it will give me all the verses that apply. I also love the way I can do devotions on my own or with friends. 💗
