Studying the Bible can be difficult and confusing, especially if you're new to reading the Bible. Here are some resources that have helped me out in learning more about the context of what is in the Bible.

Small Group
I am so thankful for Zoom and the ability for my small group from school to still be able to meet every Monday night. Bible study/small group may sound super boring and just like a school class for some, but it's the best hour and a half of the week for me. In my small group this semester, we are going through the gospel of Mark and learning more about how Jesus lived and walked on the earth years ago.
Regardless of your education and which college you attend, I'd love to invite you to my small group on Monday nights from 7-8:30pm on Zoom. The small group is hosted by United Church in the Owings Mills community. Leave a comment if you're interested in hearing more!

The Bible Project
Before I open my Bible to a passage, I watch a video on the book of the Bible under YouTube channel: BibleProject. The Bible Project gives a visual illustrated overview of themes and events taking place in the book so that readers have a better idea of what is happening before reading. I watch the video on the book of where I'm reading from and it helps me immensely.

The Bible Recap
My mentor from church recommended the resource "The Bible Recap" when I read through the books of the Bible. This has been the best resource I have ever had when reading through confusing and long books of the Bible. The Bible Recap is a podcast available on Apple/Android that has a plan to go through the Bible in a year. The podcast is hosted by Tara-Leigh Cobble, and everyday she walks through chapters of the Bible in chronological order, providing unique insight and meaning to each passage.

Journal and Highlighters
Along with these resources, I also have a journal and Bible highlighters that I use while reading and listening to the resources above. The highlighters have 6 different colors that stand for different themes which keeps my Bible organized in context.
