Bible Verses for COVID-19 Encouragement

With our world changing, there is a lot of uncertainty and confusion about what life after the coronavirus could possibly look like. I want to encourage you today knowing that while this is crazy for us, God is still in control and has this planned out for His good. Here are some Bible verses that have been encouraging me during this time:

Philippians 4:4-7 "Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice. Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."

Philippians 3:13-14 "Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus."

Isaiah 43:18-19 "Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert."

Romans 8:28 "And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose."

Genesis 50:20 "As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good, to bring it about that many people should be kept alive, as they are today."

1 Peter 1:3-5 "Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, who by God's power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time."

All of these verses set a constant theme of God working out this virus for His glory and our good. There is no use longing to go back to the old familiar and comfortable normal we all used to thrive in. Instead, God is doing a new thing. He is working out a new good normal. We can remember in the meantime that God is our living hope as Christians that we can talk to constantly.
